HORSES & PONIES

We have three lovely ponies of our own and several more that we hire from Cranloch.  We love them all.  You can meet them here.  Our biggest expenses are the cost of caring for our own ponies and the cost of hiring extra ponies for our lessons.  If you can help support these costs, you will find a Donate button on our home page.

Moray RDA’s own Three Amigos:  Tim, Corrie, and Blair.

These three moved to Cranloch with the Moray Group in 2004.

Corrie:  A great wee mare for young children. Volunteers love leading this forward going pony. Her only fault is that out on a hack she loves to eat the grass, so she is often seen wearing her basket.

Blair:  The best RDA pony we had when he was younger but now taking it a bit easier in his old age.

Tim:  After over 24 years of loyal service we said goodbye to Tim on Wednesday 30th October. He took part in the Halloween fun in the morning, and got cuddles from everyone who loved him, saying his goodbyes. He chose a Wednesday, RDA day, his biggest and most important day of the week for so many years, when the sun was shining. And as he left, Corrie gave a wee nicker as she said goodbye to the third Amigo

The three RDA Ponies

All these members of the Cranloch Crew help us out at RDA.

Blue

Blue:

The newest member of the Cranloch Crew and loved by all at RDA.  He has fitted in as if he has been with us for all his days. A real gent who can turn his hoof to anything especially if rewarded with a mint treat.

Danny

Danny:

He is our hairy, mischievous, coloured cob.   As activities in lessons get more exciting so does he!   Danny is a bit of a Houdini when it comes to fences!

Flannagan

Flannagan:

He is another real gentleman who looks after his rider. It doesn’t matter where or what it is he is doing, he stays level headed and behaves.  If you see him lifting his hind leg, he is looking to get his tummy tickled.

Macey

Macey:

One in a million! If only the stables were full of Maceys. She is a valuable member of the RDA team, looking after beginners as well as being fun for those more advanced. If you’ve got a highland cross – send it our way.

Magic

Magic

Don’t be fooled by her size – those wee legs of hers can go some speed when they want to.  Usually towards the nearest blade of grass.

Blaze

Blaze

This cute little guy is as wide as he is tall.  He has a cheeky side, but on the lead rein he is pretty unflappable.

Millie

Millie:

Cleaned up she can be a real beauty.  All that mane and feather (and mustache). It takes a lot of work to get her cleaned up, though. She is full of character and a real versatile cob.

Tyson

Tyson:

A great all-rounder who has also competed in RDA dressage competitions.  What a star. Whoever you are, whatever level of riding you are at, he will look after you – as long as your saddle stays straight. As we said – he is a real all-rounder.

Monarch

Monarch:

As a youngster, he was spooky and unpredictable.  However, now that he is in his late 20s he is one of the most popular horses.  Whatever you do on Monarch, it is easy, mainly because he is listening to the coach. (Heather is his human mum!)

Callie a Highland Cross RDA Pony

Callie:

Callie is a lovely, comfy horse to ride but being a highland cross she can be stubborn at times. And watch out for the boy horses nearby – she is a bit of a flirt

Twinkle

Twinkle:

The newest member of our RDA team. In her youth, she could jump her own height, but luckily for our volunteers, she is now taking things at a slower pace.

Riley

Riley:

Cuddliest cob of them all. Would stand still all day being fussed over. A real teddy bear.

Champ

Champ:

Watch your toes!  His feet really are the size of plates!  And forget about a mounting block, it’s a step ladder you will need to get up there.

Woody

Woody:

This wee man has a character that is bigger than his height. His party trick is to itch off his bridle, or headcollar whenever he gets the chance.

Nuala

Nuala:

We never thought we would see the day when Nuala became a horse that was suitable for RDA. She is such a sensitive  girl, but in old age she is just a dream to ride.
